Flag Day

We would like to thank our Veterans, Allentown Honor Guard, The Lehigh Valley Military Affairs Council and all participants who joined us for Flag Day 2018.

The City of Allentown, otherwise known as Queen City, shared her wisdom and hosted a wonderful ceremony lead by Major General Gerald C. Still.  Under a unified banner, millennials, patriots, political figures and community leaders collectively witnessed what some consider valor.  WWII bombers were present, the honor guard stood strong, soldiers and officers in uniform, all taking in a moment with the community to acknowledge the American Flag and what it means to sacrifice your life for others.  As the flag was lowered and raised, the trumpet call seemed to increase the winds, whipping the ropes and the flag away from her post.  The Allentown Honor Guard held strong and steady even though every flag that day whipped in the winds of sacrifice.

The delicate placement of the folds in our flag reminded me of the thousands of brave men and women who laid down their lives for us.  In war, their bodies return with an American Flag laid over the casket.  The American Flag, as of late has gone through some issues, this moment in our city, set a standard to remain vigilant in a time of displaced aggression towards our fellow neighbor.  I am very proud to belong to this city, and thank each and every one of you for hearing the call.

Or team would like to give a shout out to our media associates for helping us spread the word!  That means you, Happy Jack at WALNCableRadio.com, Bobby Gunther at 790WAEB.iheart.com and Josh Rultenberg at Channel 69 News on WFMZ.  Thank you so much for all the hard work and dedication you put into quality media.

See you next year!

Kindest Wishes,

-Natasha Pelak
